No Trash Fee Committee - Lexington, MA Special Election, Tuesday, June 16th

A Special Election will be held in Lexington, June 16th

Tuesday, June 16th residents have the chance to overturn Town Meeting's vote to impose trash fees. If it passes, the Select Board will charge residents a "tax" for trash collection.

Lexington residents have enjoyed simple and efficient trash collection for 40+ years. Now is not the time to add a new burden to taxpayers.

WHY VOTE NO TO TRASH FEES?

THE ADDITIONAL COST

  • Added fees on our trash collection will serve as an additional "tax" on residents.
  • The fee system will hurt seniors, the disabled community, and our low-income neighbors disproportionately.
  • After raising taxes 14% for the new $660 million LHS, we should not add a new burden to taxpayers.

THE HASSLE FOR RESIDENTS

  • Trash collection is a universal municipal service that every resident uses weekly. Keep it simple.
  • Trash is not a "one size fits all" issue. Everyone manages their trash in their own way.
  • Do you have a problem with your current trash collection system? If no, VOTE NO, on Tuesday, June 16th.
